In the literature, never so often have I seen the words explosive foul-smelling diarrhea.
Not even with C. diff or Noro?
I don't remember seeing specifically the words explosive quite as often as I do with this parasite in particular.

We can get a little bit more into the symptoms.
It's a very watery diarrhea parasite.
Hence the explosiveness.
We talked in our poop episode about how our anal canal has sensors to detect between a poop and a fart.
And they're really not good at detecting liquid.
So when we have like very watery stools.
Yep.
We also see a lot of abdominal cramping, bloating.
People can have nausea or like a headache.
Not often do we see vomiting, but sometimes people might have vomiting.
And sometimes people might have a fever, but it's not super common that you get a fever with this particular parasite.
But it can last for quite a long time.
So we can see like weight loss because of how just like yucky people are feeling and that they're not really eating.
