Man, when we talked about it earlier today, I'm like, yeah, I would be so happy to hop on and talk about how the Celtics are forcing the game seven. Maybe play the Zaza clip. We're going to game seven, baby. I was so hype and had to go to a little kid's birthday party earlier. I turned my phone on. I was like, I got to watch the game just in case. Yeah. Yeah, I turn my phone right back off.
About time.
It was it was real ugly. The game started off, like you said, 26-20 in the first quarter. You're feeling pretty confident if you're the Celtics. You're like, well, let's let's go ahead and take one more. You know, let's let's go ahead and do it for our guy, Jason Tatum. Jalen Brown seemed like he was a guy that came to play, even though the rest of the Celtics couldn't necessarily hit a shot.
Jalen Brown was a guy putting the ball on the floor, getting to his spots, looking like Jalen Brown, looking like, OK, I'm going to do this. I'm the man. I'm the guy. And that quickly faded away. As of the time we started, he was 8 for 20. I know he's out of the game by the time we got on this podcast, but just wasn't able to keep it up at all and fouled out of the game.
It just speaks to how the Knicks have been the entire series. They've been ready to go. Even us on the podcast, right? We previewed it, all of us together, and we're all saying Celtics in five, maybe Celtics in six, and I think the Knicks took that personally, like the Jordan meme, because... They've been ready the whole time.
Every time you see game one and two, the Celtics up big, and they take their foot off the gas by continuously shooting threes, missing 45, missing 30. The Knicks are ready to go. They don't care. They take the punches. They roll with them, and then they come back. They come up swinging. They knock you out. Well, the Celtics, they finally get their one.
They get their two with Jason Tatum going down. I thought maybe they have a little bit more fight in them tonight, but... I guess I guess you maybe underestimate the leader that Jason Tatum kind of is on that team or just how not ready the Celtics were to play. Like they are trying to come in and repeat. But Porzingis has not been good this entire series.
Missoula a little hesitant to make some changes. You know, he went with Cornette last game and benched Porzingis. And that was a big, big thing. But. We didn't see anything else from tonight.
Yeah, because I think for the Knicks, with everything that's happened with them forever, just being a Knicks organization, you can't go back to Boston. If they find a way to get back to Boston... That's ugly. They flub that. Right. But if you come out here and you have your killer mentality, you're like, OK, you got your emotional win in front of your crowd. But we have to do that tonight.
And like you said, the New York crowd was insane and they definitely fed off of that. You know, like they're they're they're feeding each other with the energy. So. We talk about the Celtics all year about their entire team and how they're supposed to show up. And we're like, well, maybe this team's too good. Look at how stacked they are. None of them showed up in this series at all.
Like you said, Przingis, where was he? He looks like... I don't even know. I can't even give you a comparison because he just did not show up at all. Obviously, Jason Tatum being hurt. Derek White usually becomes... Everybody's like, oh, he turns into Steph Curry in the playoffs. He has not been able to hit...
Everything that they did, the math problem that we were so talking about the entire time, It was really ugly for them. So I don't know. I don't know what happens for now. And congratulations to the Knicks. Yeah. But it's rough, man.
Yeah, I mean, they had to. And, you know, it's funny, you talk about Cat, you got to give him praise. You got to give him some high praise for this coming out party for him a little bit. Because it's like, in the playoffs before, we always get on him. He's one of those guys that were like, okay, you're here, do something. Yep. And he showed up in this series. Like, I'm really impressed with Cat.
And it's so funny, him being traded for Julius Randle, another guy that is perennially shit on in the playoffs.
And...
he's amazing too like what who would have thought this was going to be such a win-win trade in the offseason when it happened because I'm sure on this show we were saying what is this and why are we doing this like there's no way and then you even see I don't know we're not talking about the Timberwolves but you see them on that side the way they played throughout the regular season even the Knicks how they played throughout the regular season against the Celtics nobody thought they would be here both of them in the conference finals look at us you know
That is my prediction already.
Yeah. I mean, no, no other real notes from this one, man. Like they got blown out. They did not show up the way that you would expect them to show up for a team that's backs against the wall. But I guess, I guess maybe they tried their hardest. I can't even, I don't know.
But Jason Tatum, like I said, all year long, we're talking about this starting five that they have and how amazing they are and the way that they shoot the ball, the way that they play defense, the way that they this, that. None of them. None of them showed up.
