passed i know it's yeah it's so sad i don't know i'm sure you'll be able to be googled to be able to find a link to an interview she did with brandon o'connor last year at her home in the liberties which is not a million miles from me and um it's really lovely so if you want to you know i mean it was lovely but it was it was she had she it was quite you know sad and in in parts as well she talked she was talking about her memoir that she wrote called which is kind of maybe not the

easiest title to reflect on now that she's passed but it's called she died young a life in fragments and she talked about you know a lot of trauma and you know her lifelong struggles depression etc which is you know very sad but it was still um you know to have that captured now that people can reflect on might be interesting so go and find that

Anyway, yeah, so Brenda Fricker, she was like one of those, you know, people that was always just in the background of our lives.

So when they kind of pass, it's like, oh, that's the end of that now.

And it does kind of take you by surprise because you think people sometimes are going to be, especially when they're in the public eye, or she wasn't really in the public eye, but celebrities or people you see at Christmas every year, like in Home Alone 2, that they're going to be around forever.

And they're so part of your habits and routines, you know, and important moments in your life.

So it does, yeah, it does kind of just make you pause and reflect on,

But she had an incredible career.

She was the first Irish woman to win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in My Left Foot.

And that was at a time, I think that was in 1989.

And around that time, from say 1989 to the 90s, Dublin and Ireland was really kind of hot.

She launched...

Not she launched, but there was a whole... There was a real creative energy.

There was always a creative energy here.

But at that time, it was just kind of people were looking at Dublin and Ireland in a different way.

And I remember then in the 90s, there was like... I think Adam Clayton from U2 was going out with Naomi... They were engaged to Naomi Campbell.

So there was like this big supermodel show in what was known then as the Point Depot.

So there was just like...

you know, and she sort of broke maybe a little imaginary ceiling that, oh, it's possible maybe if you were coming out as an actor that if you want to aspire to this level and this type of a career that it's open to you.

So it was, she was sort of at the beginning of all that.
