I've been sitting with that number for a week now.

When I was young, I never pictured myself as an older person.

I was 21 or 22.

I was over 500 pounds and my legs were so swollen with edema that they produced two kinds of pain at the same time.

Heroin helped with all of that.

Heroin dissolved time.

I remember that so clearly.

And I also remember going to bed last night, genuinely excited about today.

Yeah, the two things ran really similar and parallel for me.

And it took me a long time to figure that out.

My instinct at first with addiction was if I can stay sober for 30 days, I will remain sober.

And that just wasn't the case.

It was something that I had to confront would be a...

a lifelong management, there was no real curing of that for me.

So it's something I still have to deal with day to day.

Although it gets less, it's less hard to deal with.
