And so it hasn't been all, you know, a bad time.
And yet, I think he felt like he was just putting so much into it.
You know, he still very deeply wants to find love.
So he's kind of pulled back from it.
He's focusing on being a good uncle, a good person, a good employee.
So he's like, let me just focus on myself and being the best person I can be.
And that has been a real, you know, sort of grief that he's carrying.
He feels like he kind of had to at least temporarily say goodbye to this partner he kept expecting to show up.
I think for him, it was a little bit more gradual over time, like just realizing sort of how draining this was.
He also talked about COVID.
There was a huge pandemic dating recession, and a big part of that was just young people not meeting as much.
You know, the singlehood rates rose a lot after COVID.
But there's also another element, which is something that Arthur talked about, which is, you know, feeling like he actually lost some social skills.
When he was isolating in COVID, you know, he just was obviously not seeing people as much for a long time.
And then when the world kind of opened up there, you know, it takes a while to sort of get back into the social life he used to have.
I think a lot of people can relate to that, right?
Like in the dating context or otherwise, just like feeling weirdly socially rusty.
And that does not make making good chat and being charming with a stranger easy.
Like dating is already pretty hard socially.
I think that's kind of one of the big questions of this piece, you know.
