But first in a sprawling prison in the Asir province of southwestern Saudi Arabia, hundreds of young Ethiopian men are currently sat on death row.
not knowing when it might be their turn.
In the hope of getting their voices heard, some of the prisoners managed to get hold of the mobile phone number for the BBC's Tigrina Language Service.
One of the journalists who spoke to the prisoners is Akhilu Tsagai, who has also been reporting on this story.
