But you can't just get the band back together again.
I just don't think that works.
We saw it flail and flounder in Edmonton for how many years pre-McDavid, right?
Where it was just the Oiler alumni coming back one after the next and it just didn't work.
And, again, if you've cut your teeth and you've built your resume and done all of the right things to get that job and you happen to know them, that's great, right?
It furthers alignment.
But if you're just bringing people because you think they can do the job and they haven't done it yet, then I think you open yourself up to a lot of criticism.
Yeah, certainly a pro player personnel role is a little different than simply amateur scouting.
And yeah, in order to get a guy like that into your organization, you're going to have to elevate him, right?
You're going to have to give him that number two job.
And I know that the Canucks have currently AGMs and...
You know, and like I said, I know they feel good about their scouting department.
So, you know, they're in that spot, right?
Do they want to have faith in the people they have?
And I think at various points in the organization, they're going to have to decide, do we want to challenge ourselves?
And Ryan Johnson has said that, right?
That he doesn't want yes men, he wants people...
to challenge him and potentially make him think differently.
And, you know, at some point he's going to have to prove that, that he's willing to go aggressively, get somebody and, you know, have the alignment from ownership to go out and pay whatever's necessary to do that and bring in some people that force him to think differently.
And, you know, people from other successful organizations, because this one hasn't necessarily been one.
