It's the Catholic both and it's the paradoxical mystery where oh, we could not do this without grace. matched

And yet at the same time, we also need to be free when we're doing this. matched

We need both. matched

Someone could say, Well, yeah, but does grace override our free will? matched

No, grace gives our free will the ability to be truly free. matched

And that's so important for us to understand. matched

Grace gives us the ability to be. matched

truly free to actually say yes to what we're made for because sin or you know remember the big fancy word concupiscence that attraction to sin that being drawn to sin that that that gets in the way we'll say it like that it gets in the way and we're not able to say yes to God matched

without his grace. matched

So we'll talk more about that today. matched

As well as I mentioned this at the end of the episode yesterday, sacramental graces. matched

So there are sacramental graces which are proper to eat the different sacraments. matched

And there are also special graces called charisms, which is again, that's a Greek term meaning favor, gratuitous gift, benefit, whatever they are. matched

They're like miracles, the gift of tongues, matched

They're all oriented towards sanctifying grace and are intended for the common good of the church. matched

So that they're meant to build up the body. matched

So if you ever have the gift of tongues, you have the gift of healing, the gift of any any kind of those those special charisms. matched

Those aren't for us to become holier in. matched

I mean, yes, if we're saying yes to God, of course we're becoming holy. matched
