That is a great question.
Chaos.
Chaos is what's going on.
The Ducks, I think, it sounds like they were working away at a long-term extension for Leo Carlson.
And for whatever reason, Ducks weren't progressing.
The numbers weren't what Carlson's liking were.
And by the reporting, it sounds like there were four, maybe five offer sheets out there for Carlson.
He ends up taking an extremely player-friendly offer sheet with the Flyers, five years, basically walks him into free agency, only buys one year of UFA.
And the salary structure is extremely bonus-laden, where I think he'll make approximately $40 million in the next 12 months.
And that's not something that the Ducks have really liked to do in the past.
So now they have four days to match this.
So it's chaos.
That's what it is.
Yeah, what did Paverbeek do?
Well, I'll tell you what he did.
Just for the last few years, every restricted free agent negotiation that has occurred that hasn't involved arbitration.
So I'm thinking of Trevor Zegers, I'm thinking of Jamie Drysdale, and Mason McTavish has ended up with the player getting stuck in a negotiation that has dragged into training camp with the player missing time.
And all of those players have had some of their worst seasons right after that occurred.
And all of those players are now no longer Anaheim Ducks.
And the thought process was, oh, well, those guys weren't necessarily Pat Verbeek guys.
