But maybe we could go back, I suppose, to the earliest, you know, well-recorded port in Dublin. podcast-host

well-known date it'll be 841 when the Vikings overwinter in Dublin and that starts I suppose the mo I was going to say the modern story but there's a a continuous story that we can trace through historical records. podcast-host

I always think that we have an idea of the Vikings as raiders but Dublin i is really part of this international it's a it's a cro it becomes a crossroads, this small port. podcast-host

So could you maybe yeah explain what it would have looked like and then we maybe talk about some of the stuff that came in here? podcast-host

I suppose developing on that and giving people listening at home a sense of this, you know, on one level we're talking about a very small settlement, handful of ships. podcast-host

You know, I I often think back to like Viking Dublin, you know, it's messy, dirty, it's not like this podcast-host

Necessarily what we imagine an international city, but it does have these links that stretch east to Scandinavia and even to like you know the connections down the Russian rivers that the Vikings have. podcast-host

If you look at the west from like 900 onwards, they're pushing into the North Atlantic and then into the Mediterranean. podcast-host
