So cringe kind of used to mean second hand embarrassment, but I suppose now born out of the internet you have something called cringe culture, which is basically where people, you know, mock or ridicule very specific content or behaviors or expressions people are displaying online.
And it's basically something that I think kind of Gen Z
gorge on, like they would be very quick to categorize everything, or a lot of things at least, as embarrassing or awkward and things that should not be done, let alone shared.
I mean, you could argue that millennials maybe started off with the expression, you know, like hello boomer and stuff like that.
But I suppose what makes it different is that it's the battleground of the internet.
You know what I mean?
This is where we're seeing the two kind of groups have it out.
I suppose for millennials, when we look at the internet and social media, we had to learn how to make TikToks.
You know what I mean?
It wasn't native to us.
We had to kind of truly embarrass ourselves to become kind of
technologically and social media fluent.
Whereas for Gen Z, it's so second nature to them, which is why I think you have this clash of generations between the two of them where millennials embrace cringe, everything they do is cringe and inverticomas, whereas Gen Z are very specific in what they do and don't share, you know?
The the but see this is interesting as well, right?
So it sometimes it's cringe can be categorized as you know these big personal romantic declarations, so like a gender reveal and engagement, stuff like that, where some of that obviously has you've there's huge effort has gone in, right?
They really think like effort is also to be seen as cringey, which I find so interesting.
I think the ultimate goal for Gen Z's, I see this come up all the time on
line where they're talking about
you know, if someone was to curate like a photo dump on Instagram, so that's like a collection of photos that you'd shared from your holiday, whatever, it could be totally random.
