Not because they changed their mind, but because they healed.

And now they're at a different place.

And you mentioned the prodigal son.

The truth is the father doesn't forgive the son.

He bypasses it.

He doesn't say, what do you have to say?

The son has a fake-ass apology all written, but he doesn't want to hear it because he has moved directly, as you say, to mercy.

And mercy is God, as Pope Francis would say.

And and so, you know, and my spiritual director, Sergio, says forgiveness.

There's too much back and forth, back and forth.

He goes, I only believe in fourth and fourth is mercy and mercy is God.

And I share that belief.

Yeah, I mean, the truth of the matter is you can't demonize people you know.

That's untenable for human beings.

And so, you know, we have enemies who are right behind me here in the bakery who are making croissants together.

And initially, they won't talk to each other because they used to shoot at each other.

But...

give it some time and you cannot demonize people you know.

And once you know people, I mean, does that always happen?

It always happens.
