And uh that we take an audience question and I will

read it and then I'll give my own two cents.

Um so this is from Kate.

And Kate asks, I am often moved to tears at mass, but don't understand why do others experience this.

So Kate, um, interestingly, and Matt will know this from being uh Jesuit educated, Saint Ignatius called this the gift of tears.

Yeah.

And uh he often had this at mass, uh so much so that his eyes were starting to bother him and

In a very practical Ignatian way, he went to a doctor, I love this story, who said if you keep crying, you're not going to be able to do your work.

And Ignatius very practically said, Well, okay, then I'll stop crying because he needed to do his work.

I'm not making fun of your question, Kate, just saying what uh Ignatius' experience was.

You know, I it's a it's an example of um emotions that are happening, right?

And uh it certainly makes sense that it happens during mass, during any of the sacrifice.

sacraments, it happens for different people at different times.

So I would say to just um accept it as a gift from God, the gift of tears, and the gift of God moving you interiorly, you know, during the sacrament.

And yes, others do experience this, but not everybody.

Not everybody goes to Mass and not everybody cries at Mass and not everybody cries uh, you know, over emotional things in general.

But I would say, Kate, don't worry about it.

It is a gift.

and um, you know, maybe just celebrate it and think of what God might be.
