So you go to a monthly meeting where then...

You read scripture, you share, you talk about God, you talk about the future, you talk about where you're at.

The initial meeting starts off with the vocation director and yourself, and you're supposed to give an account of your life.

And then he then invites you to discern or not to discern.

And so he can either turn you away or invite you in for the discernment process, not to go directly to seminary.

Now, my brother...

that was also discerning with me at my home parish, received that invitation to go right to seminary that same day.

I was not.

Because my vocation director knew that he didn't want me to backslide and he wanted me to make certain that this was the correct thing.

So to your point, when I went to him,

It was the time of me trying to figure things out.

And I was very much still of the world.

And this was before I gave my clothes to the homeless.

I actually put on my best suit.

For the meeting.

I took my Maserati that day.

I had my hair slicked back and I went to his office thinking, thinking that I was doing the right thing.

That I, that this is what normal, this is what everyone does.
