An idea that my seminarian brother and I, he just came back from Paris and he's like, yeah, I was in the cathedral and I used in this big, huge machine, I was able to actually use non-cash and I thought it was great.
We don't have that in America.
And I was like, oh my gosh, we got to do that.
I asked him if he wanted to join me, but he wasn't interested.
So I went to my bishop and I said, hey,
Do you mind if I would dive in to assist us with trying to allow technology to help us to increase our footprint and to gain more traction in ministry as well as donations for the church?
Because based on the 2013 report from USCCB,
We're already seeing that people are not using cash.
They're using their credit cards.
They're using their bank.
And I said, so now we're at a point where that's where it's at.
So the bishop said, go for it, Borba.
Go for it.
So what I did is I started cold calling into –
The Silicon Valley companies that had the back-end technology of tap-to-pay, but they didn't have the machinery and the outfitting for anything that would be physical that I would need it.
So then they put me into companies that had some of these things that they were working with in other industries and other forms of charity.
So then I interviewed different companies.
I called over to one company over in Toronto, and they were on board –
to help bring the tap-to-pay technology into the Catholic Church so then we could start to utilize the donation potential that we had to start to increase ministry efforts and evangelization that we need to do.
