He was teaching me how to ride a bike.
And it was the exact same sensation because to me it was the exact same thing, freedom.
Now I'm free.
Because once you had a bicycle when I was a child,
You could go anywhere in the town.
No one cared where you were.
No one ever asked where you were.
There was no such thing as a bicycle lock.
There was nothing.
You left the house on the bike.
You only had to be home like on the weekends, you know, for meals.
Other than that, no one knew where their children were.
No one cared where they were.
No one asked where you went.
They had no interest in the subject whatsoever.
So you could ride around.
The bicycle was a freedom machine.
And being able to read by yourself meant I didn't have to ask my mother to read to me.
I could just read.
