President Trump kicked off his campaigning for the midterm elections this week.

He first traveled to Iowa to talk about the economy and energy.

Today, he's staying in Washington, D.C., and promoting the launch of a long-term savings program that the administration calls Trump Accounts.

Trump is urging parents to open the accounts where, starting this July, the federal government will deposit $1,000 for every baby born between 2025 and 2028.

The money is then invested in the stock market and can be accessed when they turn 18.

President Trump claims the U.S.

needs the Arctic territory for national security purposes.

In a social media post, Trump argues it could also strengthen the NATO alliance.

He wrote, quote, NATO becomes far more formidable and effective with Greenland in the hands of the United States.

Danish officials requested the meeting with the administration.

Greenland's prime minister says Greenland stands with Denmark and warns that the territory will face a geopolitical crisis if it has to choose between the U.S.

and Denmark.

President Trump vowed to step in if Iran uses lethal force on demonstrators as economic protests continue.

In an early morning social media post, Trump wrote that if Iran kills peaceful protesters, then quote,

the United States of America will come to their rescue.

We are locked and loaded and ready to go.

The comments mark a sharp escalation by the president toward Iran.

Clashes between police and protesters have turned deadly over the past week.
