I went to a really small private Christian school, but I was homeschooled until my senior year, went to this private school my senior year and halfway through everything came out about the cult.

Now, I think it was November.

The student government was,

starting to decide superlatives and i was brand new i think they might have known a little bit of like the situation i was in but no one knew like for sure the extent of it um but i don't think they knew like nothing had come out yet and they came up to me and they're like hey we have your superlative most likely to be in a cult three weeks later the article comes out and i'm in a cult yeah

No, I'm serious.

So it was like wild.

Cause I was like, how did y'all know?

That's actually impressive.

Um, but I, so I just kind of like shut down and didn't tell anybody my story for so long.

People just couldn't get it.

And also I didn't have the language for it.

You know, I was like, I don't know what just happened to me.

I feel, um, but part of like, I remember the first time I like told somebody my story and it was like, they were so kind and it was like, Oh, and they kind of resonated in their own way.

And I was like,

we're not alone no matter how freakish or weird any of our stories are we're not alone and we have to open up and talk about it and and so that's been really powerful part of going solo and making my own music is is I wanted it to well when I was when I met my husband I was working at a church and I was kind of thrown into this student ministry I was the first resident like for a year long and

And they didn't have a woman over the high school ministry.

So they kind of just put me in that role as high school women's director.

And I really wasn't trained for it.

I was 19.

I didn't know what I was doing.
