My dad is a pathologist, so he was the head of pathology at the Cleveland Clinic for many, many, many years, retired like fifteen years ago, I'd say.

Gret Gretchen and I are sort of unique in that we went into sort of creative fields professionally.

So I at first went to Syracuse University to study film.

Uhhuh.

And I found to my shock I hated it.

Uh mostly because of all the ancillary stuff filmmakers have to do with flights and lugging heavy equipment around.

I did not have a car.

And lugging a sixteen millimeter camera around Syracuse, New York, in the middle of winter is not fun.

And I'm sure that had something to do with it.

The other school so Syracuse is also famous for this Newhouse School of Communications where if you watch a sports show on New York City television, some odds are eighty percent of the people you're looking at graduated from Newhouse.
