The comic we did before the silencers was a book that was put brought by an even smaller publisher, black and white book called Tranquility, that was a science fiction story about a woman on a moon colony who's a cop and her talking gun.
And uh Platinum Studios, which was run by Scott Rosenberg, who was also along with Olbrook, one of the Malibu founders, uh, ran.
And what Scott had realized with the success of Men in Black, which many people are not aware was a comic book that was published by Malibu or initially, is that and I I do not mean to like necessarily denigrate
the creator of Men in Black, the comic at all, but he sort of realized, Oh, I don't even need a good comic
to get a movie deal.
I could swing it, you know.
And at certain and at a certain point he just sort of realized I don't even need a comic, I just need like a concept, you know.
Um and so they had optioned Tranquility and as a result of that I got writing work with them and I wound up with Cowboys and Aliens.
I was like the tenth writer on that project.
Um, I think 'cause of Tranquility was a science fiction book.
Initially their idea with with Cowboys and Aliens was was it was gonna be, you know, like the Xenomorph Aliens but in the Old West.
And I'm like, that seems like an unfair fight.
Not very interesting, you know.
Uh and I thought it would should be more of a fun, you know, kind of more of a family picture.
So that's why I I ended up writing.
And
Um I turned in it was my first sort of full professional comics gig.
I turned in the script the day I got married.
Two thousand one.
Actually it was a Friday and I got married on the on a Saturday.
