But according to an internal briefing note seen by the FT, unlimited access is now being granted to a range of firms.

It marks a change from previous practice, which required individuals working on the system to apply for access to specific data sets.

Responding to the FT, NHS England said it has strict policies in place for managing access to patient data and carries out regular audits to ensure compliance.

A widening trade deficit with Europe and more competition.

And its latest roadmap gives Europeans yet more reason to question the free market model they've long relied on.

The continent's largest economy, Germany, has seen declines in manufacturing output and a struggling auto industry.
