The question which I found most interesting is one of the reasons that the London 2012 Olympics was sold on was the legacy it would leave.
But can you really have a legacy?
Does every host nation after hosting an Olympics suddenly become a nation of much better sports people?
Is that in any way possible or statistically proven?
The answer is no.
12 years on.
The probability of them winning that many medals is significant.
But if you look 16 years on, it's not significant.
Meaning that statistically, there's no significant legacy 16 years or more afterwards.
You can't tell the difference between a nation that's hosted the Olympics and hasn't hosted the Olympics in their recent past.
So what the legacy of Team GB will be is definitely unclear for the future.
