This is fun.
Yeah, it's always risky to talk about what's happening inside Donald Trump's head.
But uh I think you could see this as like maybe the February, March 2020 reaction from Trump to COVID where he's sort of like, Oh, it's a hoax, dismissing it.
And then, you know, this could be cope from people who really want there to be action on AI, especially with China.
But uh
He might come around if the pressures continue.
And I think there's a lot of worry that like he's going to polarize his base against AI regulations or against the concept of AI safety.
But
I think this issue's become salient enough.

Skeptical enough of the technology that it's going to be hard for him to really command like anyone but the most loyal followers.
Yeah, I think that they genuinely do want to slow down.
Mm-hmm.
Because they're going f so fast that they cannot actually keep their system safe and they're barreling towards this like very uncertain future.
And they still want to build what they're trying to build, which is universal labor replacing machines.
Right.
They call it artificial general intelligence.
And even in Dario's post about pacing the frontier, he's like, we don't want to stop, right?
