And I take seriously these concerns about extinction, not on the same timelines that Jacob is talking about.
Um, but I think there's been this big mistake made by the classic AI safety community, like the the so-called doomers, um, where they focus on like extinction, superintelligence.
And that's like the last stop on the train.
And then if you don't believe the train is going in that direction, then you're like not so worried about the train.
And to me, I'm like, plenty of people want to stop the train at labor replacement, at surveillance, at environmental concerns, at power and wealth concentration.
And all of those things are like easier cases to make.
And they're still true.
And so I think we should be focusing on, you know, what
Is before that step, which is like AGI, universal labor replacing machines.
People don't want that.
Yeah.
Um and this question of like, could every single human be killed by the end of the decade?
It's just like distracting us from this question of like, do we want these machines to be built?
in our lifetimes under the conditions that they're currently being built.
Yeah, I I agree with both of those things.
