And people might think is impossible, but like, let's just assume that it's possible.

Like we should not do this.

We should not let this happen.

And his argument that like you only get to pause once, you only get one flare, I don't think makes sense to me either.

Because in a world where you've paused once, it'll be much, much easier to pause again.

You'll have the infrastructure in place.

You'll have like broken the seal on this like thing that would be a very, very large change from the status quo where the

Companies are racing as fast and as hard as possible.

And so my view is that we should be stopping frontier AI research and development immediately, and we should be banning research towards artificial general intelligence, which I think of as machines that make labor or universal labor-replacing machines.

I think when you frame it that way, which is I think an accurate way to frame what they're trying to do, people

People will not want that.

Like people don't want to have all their jobs go away and all the power and wealth concentrate even further into the hands of these oligarchs.

And so I like the problem with this like pause at just the right time frame, besides this assumption that we obviously want to build superintelligence and have an intelligence explosion, which I think again is wrong.

Um, is that like nobody's gonna agree on what the right time is.

You know, there's gonna

Be enormous pressure to keep going.

And everyone's wrong all the time about how fast AI progress will happen and like what the progress will actually mean.

And so I think we should just have a simple demand, which I'm calling stop the race to replace us, and immediately ban this.
