So the Confederates won a huge victory.

They occupy the town for the rest of the battle, which is uncomfortable for the North to say the least.

The South experienced this quite a bit, but this was not common in the North.

And the Confederates are going to then lose the initiative if I can drag you on toward the second day.

Yeah, it's a big misnomer.

So I'm going to agree with you and add a little tweak.

So yes, the icons are packed into Gettysburg.

You mentioned some of them, the Round Tops, Devil's Den, the Wheatfield, Peach Orchard, Culp's Hill, Cemetery Ridge, all these places.

But in the same sense, the battlefield is 25 square miles.

So one of the biggest eye openers when people come to Gettysburg for the first time is they expect to see this.

fenced in five football fields and think that that's the battlefield.

No, I mean, it takes you 23 miles just to drive around the place.

So it is huge as battlefields go.

But on the south end of the second day's field, the icons are just packed in.

Both sides are ready to either defend their homes or to end the civil war in favor of the south.

And, you know, there's one commander, the second in command for the south,

James Longstreet said that July 2nd, despite his lack of success, said it's the best three hours fighting ever done by any troops on any battlefield.

This is ferocious fights in terrible places where it was hard to train to fight in places like Devil's Den.

It broke formations.

It was the second hottest day of the summer.
