And so I told him at the beginning of 2004, let's not even talk about a new contract at the end of this year.

Let's just go our own separate ways.

Yeah, it was, because he gave me my first chance.

Like, I wouldn't have been a supercar driver if he didn't give me that test and do that first race meeting at Phillip Island, didn't stick by me in 98.

I wouldn't be a supercar driver.

So I had a massive degree of loyalty to that, to Gary.

But I could see that, you know, after finishing second in the championship, winning Bathurst in 2000, the results were sliding and getting worse and they weren't getting better.

And I'm like, well, if I'm going to give myself any sort of opportunity to

have success again I need to go somewhere else and did that deal come about pretty easily the HRT no I went shopping around for a little bit went and saw some other dudes and had a look around and then Murph was at because then it was then it was Kmart Racing so it was Rick Kelly and Greg Murphy at Kmart Racing in the second team at HRT and

And Murph wanted to move.

He wanted to go and do something different.

So he moved and I slotted into Murph's seat.

And it was, yeah, pretty easy deal.

Yeah, right.

Yeah, yeah.

So we, again, we're going really well, both Rick and I, in the championship.

So I think we split up for Sandown.

And then we drove together at Bathurst.
