You know, I was thinking about talk show hosts before we picked up the mics today and what motivates them.
and it's nice to be heard.
It's nice to be seen.
It's nice to be valued.
And so the benefit of meeting with the therapist is first of all,
We can't really do therapy too well on ourselves.
It's like trying to practice dentistry on yourself.
You don't have the right perspective for doing it.
When you're meeting with a third person, when you're meeting with that counselor, the counselor gets the opportunity of being an outsider looking in.
And as a result, because of that different perspective, can see things that you don't see in yourself.
Now, having said that, some people don't like to hear the feedback of the therapist, right?
So we talk about things like timing, but that aside, the value of the therapist is the opportunity
to learn these things about yourself.
And we want to learn so that we can manage them more effectively such that they're not pulling our strings and managing us.
