All I did really was keep asking him the same question in a different way.

And he just kept being consistent.

And I thought, OK, this is someone who is not making stuff up.

I got the word back that this could happen, this might happen.

We got sort of ready.

We were going to film my end of the phone call.

And the ringtone on my phone is the theme from Succession.

And when we were rehearsing this thing, we sort of reprogrammed the phone number on my phone.

So it just came up with the president sort of thing.

And when my phone rang, my producer said, you cannot.

People think that's deliberate.

That will become a meme.

You need to change that to something more vanilla.

So I have changed it back since, to be fair.

And the next day, I thought the moment had passed, they weren't really responding.

And so that following evening, I went back to my apartment, sort of.

Hello.

Nap on the sofa.

And then sort of mid-evening, the phone rang, and the press secretary said, Hello, Gary, it's Caroline.
