It's like, anytime you're going like, I don't really want to be doing this, but I want the trophy or I want the achievement, you failed, right? It should add to the fun, not just become another fucking grind, right? And so there are good ways to implement achievements and bad ways to implement achievements.

And I think Nintendo's attitude is they've looked at the balance of it and thought, you know what? No. And again, I'm glad. The games themselves... I wasn't playing games in the 80s and 90s going like, this is fun, but I feel like there's something missing. I think Greg platinumed fucking Bluey, which is a game for five-year-olds. Oh, no, but he loves Bluey. That's genuine. I love Bluey as well, but the game is not a game that grown-ups, that you're going to get a lot of satisfaction from playing.

Achievements, like anything... can be good or bad. You ever see the movie Shane? Alan Ladd Jr. says a gun is only as good or as bad as the man who wears it. Wow. That's right. He made you think there. See philosophy. That's deep. Yeah, it's deep. And it applies here as well. They can be implemented in a way that is a lot of fun.

I really don't like the satisfaction should be in itself in the gameplay and knowing that you, that you finished the game or whatever, you beat the final boss, like getting some arbitrary number of points for, for doing like, again, just run around and find every fucking hidden thing.

That's one of the only two games I've ever platinum, and you're finding all the backpacks? I actually enjoyed doing that because it was well-designed. There were a couple that drive me crazy. Oh, sorry, three games I've done. And I'll tell you this, even as much as I liked doing the achievements, there was at least one in each one where I'm like, fuck this achievement.
