That's one of the only two games I've ever platinum, and you're finding all the backpacks? I actually enjoyed doing that because it was well-designed. There were a couple that drive me crazy. Oh, sorry, three games I've done. And I'll tell you this, even as much as I liked doing the achievements, there was at least one in each one where I'm like, fuck this achievement.
But then you're like, so the sunk cost is like, shit, I've got 99 out of 100 achievements. At that point, you're like, even I'm going, fuck, I've got to get the last one. But I'm not enjoying doing it. Yeah.

I think a Mario game is probably like you're going down a rabbit hole now. No, no, no.

Microsoft, and I'm going to assume Sony as well because there are no exceptions, mandate now that your game must have achievements and must have trophies, right? You can't have achievement that's just this, or you can't make players do that or whatever, because we want to keep them as fun as possible. My sense is that Nintendo, which, again, I have a love-hate relationship with Nintendo. They give with one hand and take away with the other. I love them one minute, I'm pulling my hair out the next.

One thing that I do think Nintendo cares about and is very good at is preserving the integrity of the core gameplay experience. That's why they're so fucking good. Right.

And I don't think they would allow, even if they would implement achievements, I think they would have many more guardrails and rules in terms of developer guidelines to say, you can't just have like collect a hundred stupid fucking things that are randomly hidden around the world. Like they've got to be things that are, um, built into the core. Like, for example, Koroks, right?

In the Zelda games.

That is something that you, like, collect every Korok, you can see you get an achievement for that. Nintendo doesn't do that. They reward you in a better way, right? You collect those Korok seeds and you can trade them in to get an extra heart. So it's actually something that rewards you in a tangible way in the core gameplay experience. Not just, here's 10 extra points that don't mean anything.

Here's a fucking NFT virtual trophy. Who gives a fuck about that?

Listen, I used to play Uno on the Xbox 360. I've seen it all. You know how many fucking dicks I've seen over the years? The amount of people that are going to pull their wiener out playing Mario Party.
