And then it becomes talked about more.

And that's a good thing.

So because we're becoming better at talking about these kinds of problems, I think we're becoming much more aware of them.

I'm sure there was loads of people when you were in your twenties that were going home and crying into their pillow every night and not telling everyone and pretending they were having a great time.

The suicide rate was a lot higher then.

Is that right?

Yeah, the suicide rate has dropped.

So talking about it helps us talk about it more.

So that's part of it.

Another part of it is definitely the widening of the criteria, the broadening of the criteria for what counts in inverted commas.

So we've seen that in the ICD and in the DSM that states of mind which wouldn't have been accorded a diagnosis in the 80s would be now.

So...

There's definitely a broadening in that sense.

That's part of it.

Social media, of course.

So if we look particularly for young people, the uptick in problems, reported problems, took off with smartphones in 2010.

It's a huge factor.

I wish I knew the answer to that.

I don't think anybody knows.

There's competing reviews out there of the evidence, which some of them say smartphones are just really bad and they're causing all this.
