And maybe the criticism that should be levelled is that there should be a guidebook that sets all of this out in citizens' advice and so on.
so that people properly understand and don't jump into this and think, oh, it's exactly like Orla said, you're buying a used car.
You're not.
You treat this like you're putting an extension on your house or like you're building a house.
It's a big endeavour.
It's a significant amount of money.
And the other thing that people should be aware of, and I think this is the bit that hasn't really resonated, it's only for five years.
The exemption only applies for five years and then the minister may review the situation and may decide, do you know what, enough of that, we're going to remove the exemption.
In which case, you potentially have to apply for planning permission to keep your temporary dwelling in the rear garden or you may in fact have to remove it if you can't get planning permission for it.

It absolutely depends on the size of your home in the first instance.
If you live in a terraced house and you have a very limited rear garden space, then I think it's likely to subtract.
And it also depends on the quality of the product that you buy and install.
So if you buy something that's more budget friendly and won't last as long versus something that's more permanent, it really depends.
