When you say the full extent wasn't realised until this year, were all the girls assaulted?
Wow.
It is really hard.
It's a really hard line to walk when you work in the true crime world and telling these stories is how do you tell the story and what happened while not re-traumatising the victims, going into too much detail, but also balancing that.
So you did a really great job of that in that I think when people watch your documentary, they will understand what happened to the girls, but it isn't sensationalised graphic kind of content.
Well, you mentioned you spoke to kind of sisters, fathers, mothers, brothers, friends of these girls.
What did you personally take away from those conversations, from revisiting their grief and their memories?
Yes.
What I found interesting was watching how public the families were.
They really gave themselves to the media in an effort to try and find the killers.
But I think it's Barbara that tells you that it really started to take a toll.
Another detail that got to me that I hadn't thought of, and it's like the ripple effect of crime, is the 24-year-old manager of that yogurt shop that was called in to identify them and the grief on her face when you're interviewing her about that.
Yeah.
