Is there an epidemic against literature?
More specifically, Black literature?
Our books are being banned, scanned by AI, and destroyed.
I'm Jacquees Peace Thomas, and on this season of the Black Lit Podcast, we're outside asking some of the custodians of our stories, teachers, and our modern day writers, why?
They don't want a whole bunch of little Ella Bakers, Malcolm Xs, and Martin Luther Kings running around.
They want to build children who have no empathy.
That's really the ultimate goal.
We want books that don't make white kids feel bad.
So is the war on literacy and information or our ability to connect?
We want people to know
It could be an escape.
It could be entertainment.
And that is the beauty of reading.
It can be all of those things.
And considering this is Black Reading Month, the only real question is, what are you reading next?
