They'll shut down the course for a day, and it becomes a park, or they have Frisbee golf, or some great stuff going on up in San Luis Obispo.

There's a really creative guy up there doing things like that that has –

changed the perception of the game.

What's happened with the food and beverage at these courses here has had an incredible impact on people's perception of golf or the course itself in the area, and that it's now important to have it instead of, say, Penmar just being the place where planes crash and there were homes for cabins.

and now yeah they have this amazing food and beverage thing where they have concerts i mean it's it's just unbelievable how many people show up and then when you talk to randomly to people they um you know may know nothing about golf but they'll go oh yeah i went to the pen mart for to watch the game seven they spilled it out on the lawn you know not lawn i mean it's it's not a this is not an extravagant place but they a very creative

uh, entrepreneur has, has done this and you're just like, okay, yeah, it'd be nice to have that, this to translate to the golf course.

But to your point, it, um,

Even the public courses have fences around them.

And you know, people always say, oh, I didn't know I could go have lunch there.

We had only one place like that in Southern California, Brookside, which has a very robust food and beverage operation, a lot of meetings.

And it doesn't have that closed off thing.

And it's part of the community.

People walk around the course, all that stuff.

Yeah, and there's nothing you can do in the short term to flip that.

And then, obviously, the fan experience at the U.S.

Open in 2023 was terrible.

And that also was held a little bit against the Riviera-USGA thing, I think.

The USGA didn't really do a whole lot to...

uh make people believe that it would be a better experience at riviera um so there's all sorts of layers on that front too just the perception from these tournaments and uh so yeah it's a huge story to watch though because i think a lot of other markets this this could happen and it all is all because um uh malcolm malcolm uh wanted to run through the on that nice grass

And by the way, I've seen him running here near me at Palisades Park, one of the great parks in the world, overlooks the ocean, but he still wants to get through Bretwood Country Club.
