So I wanted to get away from all of that.
Why?
Not to escape, but
to try to go deeper into not the news of what it's like to see America in this crisis, but the feeling of it.
What does it feel like to, for a father, for a daughter, for someone, for a farmer in the countryside?
So there's
I think by getting rid of the kind of the signposts of 2025 America, it made it possible for me to explore more deeply the emotions and the sort of larger philosophical questions that we should all be wrestling with.

I'd love to hear them, but I do think fiction has a kind of clarifying cleansing effect on our minds.
