In the end, the strongest confirmation came from Robinson himself.
In twenty thirteen, he walked away.
saying the movement he'd built had become the very thing its critics always said it was.
That might have been the end of our story.
The movement collapsed.
Its leader was disgraced.
His fifteen minutes of fame seemed to be over.
I grew up in Britain during this time.
I remember the English Defence League, the protests, the fight.
But I have to admit.
Over the next twelve years that followed, I didn't think about Robinson.
Not really.
He'd pop up in the news very occasionally, a seemingly endless stream of court cases, a failed attempt to run for European Parliament after Brexit.
He always seemed to be something of a joke.
