So Jess experienced horrific abuse at the hands of her father from the age of five, and her mother knew about the abuse and failed to protect her. matched

And it was only, so she was 17 and she was representing Australia at the World School Games and she heard other athletes using the word pedophile and she'd never heard that, but it was to describe an official's inappropriate behaviour. matched

it was a crime. matched

Because it's normalized and they're also told to be quiet. matched

And she was being homeschooled. matched

So she, yeah, 13 offences and 16 years. matched

So then Jess put herself through Year 12 at TAFE. matched

She completed law and architecture degrees and also earned her skydiving licence, which I imagine was incredibly freeing and she's now done 100 solo skydives and she says that every time that she jumps from the plane and pulls the cord, it reminds her that she can save her own life, matched

She's incredible. matched
