In Ireland, fortunately for me, with the infrastructure challenges we have, I think cars are a reality for a long time to come.
But I think what those cars, the makeup of those cars in terms of their engines, drivetrains, things like that will change.
Obviously, we have a big move to EV that's happening over the last few years that has stumbled here and there.
But it is slowly but surely happening, albeit petrol cars are still the most popular option in Ireland.
But there's definitely a move towards EVs and hybrids.
And I think things like self-driving technology and stuff like that are still a long way off.
With our cartel hat on, we're actually involved in some patterns for self-driving technology.
And we can see from the inside, it's still got a way to go.
By percentage share, diesel is still ahead of EV, but by trajectory, EV is on the way up.
Diesel has definitely is the one that's taken a hit and is dropping back over time.
Definitely, definitely.
And they have to a degree, but the reality is if you're driving, you know, have a long commute, you're based in Cork, coming to Dublin, Galway to Dublin, something like this, diesel might still be the best option.
And again, to be fair, the manufacturers have made those vehicles safer and more efficient for the environment than they ever have been.
But there's no doubt that the preferred choices still lie with petrol and EV.
I think it's disappointed everybody.
I think we thought we would have been further along in that move.
Certainly all the major manufacturers put all their eggs in that basket and it hasn't quite happened.
Is that because of the infrastructure or the lack of?
