But yes, Rugby Union operates in a certain kind of a bubble in Australia, no doubt.
It has its diehard core fans.
But judging by the amount of TV screens and bars and opening and my room here and the websites and so forth,
Definitely, to my surprise, the Socceroos were the biggest show in town during the World Cup.
And I think I did a piece around all the viewing figures, which are quite extraordinary as well, despite the ungodly hour that some of them were on.
I went to a fan zone for their group match that ended nil all to get their place in the knockout stages.
But their game against Egypt was...
in the round of 32.
It was at 4am local time in Sydney.
And I was in certain bars that were going to stay open.
They got licensing laws to stay open till six or seven in the morning, which must have been heartbreaking for anybody who stayed up all night long to see them lose on a penalty shootout.
But that had been the number one show in town.
But then apart from that, it's mostly Rugby League, it seems to me.

the bulletins, the NRL leads the bulletins.
And of course, we've got the State of Origin next Wednesday as well, which is huge.
And that will now be the main show in town, no doubt, this week.
Be interested to maybe go and find a bar to watch that in and get a real sample of what it's like here in Australia when the State of Origin goes to a third decider.
So yeah, that's where Rugby Union operates.
It was a full house, still a good sense of occasion.
