I tell you what, he's got some character.
He's got some self-belief.
I didn't think he'd be capable of orchestrating
a win over the Wallabies like that and ultimately his goal kicking was critical when you think the Wallabies only landed three out of seven kicks a goal and he landed four out of five including the match winning conversion so hats off to him and I think his ceiling is still huge and I think people should lay off him and give the kid a break and we should just recognise what a talent he is and be very grateful we had him particularly last weekend because he was vital to that win
Well, yeah, I suppose they're going through a little bit of transition.
There had been a layoff since the Six Nations.
You are still talking about pulling players together from all four problems, even if Leinster are the core.
I think there were cheating problems, as there have been at the outset of both last year's Automation Series and the Six Nations.
You think back to the first game in Paris against France and the first game in Chicago against the All Blacks.
And now this first game, particularly in that first half,
perhaps more so the teething problems in defence in reverting from a Jacques Ninamar blitz defensive system to more reactive Irish defensive system.
And there were shooters shooting up at a line that didn't have any effect in the first half.
And there was a fair bit of exposing of players in the outfield, like being beaten, being tied for them, be it James Giffen Park on one occasion, even Josh van der Vleer on another occasion.
So the defence was a little connected and I thought they really connected the defence much better in the second half.
So that was good.
They had some line-out issues.
They had to iron out.
So I suppose it's only natural that they would have teething problems in all these areas, and that includes the attack as well.
