Appearances
Matt Canson's not here.
Calvin Nash is not here.
Tommy O'Brien's not here.
Now Robert Balikun.
They're all a little bit injury prone.
But Balakun is arguably, maybe it's the curse of the Irish times.
I interviewed him for one-on-one Saturday morning and lo and behold, he doesn't play in the game, wakes up with a slightly sore hamstring.
But he is a point of difference that only Tommy O'Brien can rival.
in Irish rugby.
Just that pure pace, that X factor that the two of them have and on top of which Ballot Coon has got a wonderful ability to just go off either foot and beat players one on one and he's been encouraged to back himself by Andy Farrell and he just provides another dimension to
this Irish rugby team in a way that no other player does.
And he gives this Irish team X factor in a way that, you know, France and the All Blacks and South Africa have bucket loads of.
Ireland don't have too much of it.
And Balakun is a rare weapon to have in their disposal.
And I really, really hope he features at least against the All Blacks at the start of the week.
I was interviewing him like, this is his first time ever in Australia.
He's 28.
This is his breakthrough season at 28 years of age.
And
He's blessed with fast, rich fibres, but he's cursed by also hamstring niggles and groin niggles and calf niggles.
