m modern Western culture is used to where, you know, now it's like gentle parenting and you gotta like

you know, a accept the child as they are and kind of continually make them feel safe and supported through like words of affirmation.

What did your parents do?

Uh my dad uh was a professor um of uh electrical and computer engineering and he

then worked for Samsung, which is why we moved back to Korea and he actually designed Samsung's first supercomputer.

uh which is extraordinary.

And uh my mom, she was going to be a classical pianist, but then gave it all up to uh raise my sister and me.

So uh you know, she still she ended up um later in life once my sister went to college, she got her masters in music.

And uh so h you know, was able to sort of fulfill s uh her dreams in that way.

Um highly accomplished people.

Yes, they are highly accomplished.

So you were a straight A student, almost perfect SAT or maybe you did and played the violin.

I mean highly, highly

you know, just academically superior.

That was my parents for sure.

It was a lot of I your whole childhood was like, you know, preparing to try and get into an Ivy League school.

Um, and so it was hours of violin practice every day.

You know, I played tennis, I

uh you know, was s you know, self studying for the PSATs.

I remember in like, I want to say like sixth grade.
