ABC and its parent company Disney filed a lawsuit against the FCC yesterday to block its regulatory threats, an escalation in the media company's long-running feud with the president.
The FCC chair Brendan Carr has ordered an early review into ABC's broadcast license, even though it's not up for renewal.
ABC says it poses an existential threat to its operations, and Disney called their actions an extraordinary assault on free speech.
The president has gone after ABC repeatedly.

The FCC's reviews were announced in April, a day after Trump called for Kimmel to be fired.
Chairman Carr has made no secret of his allegiance to Trump in interviews, but told Fox recently the reviews were about ensuring networks lived up to their obligations for subsidized broadcast access.
Carr has singled out ABC's The View, putting pressure on the network to subject it to equal time rules, which states that radio and TV stations must provide the same opportunity for political candidates from all parties to appear on air during election cycles.
ABC claims The View is exempt as a news show.
In response, ABC has publicly urged its listeners to get behind them in defense of one of their biggest shows.
These licenses are a crucial part of Disney's business and would represent a huge loss if they were revoked.
ABC and Disney own eight local affiliate TV stations, six of which are in the nation's top markets, including New York and Los Angeles.
Trump's relationship with the media in his second term has been defined by threats and lawsuits, a handful of which have been settled.
In this case, Disney's new CEO Josh DeMaro appears to have concluded that a court battle was worth having if it forces the FCC to pull back.
