S Svetlana, the daughter of Stalin, was never told the truth either.
She was told that her mother had died of an illness.
And it was many years later.
I think she was reading Time magazine, which had done had done a profile of Stalin.
And it said, you know, of course, his his wife Nadia uh you know shot herself through the heart.
And Svetlana was devastated because all her life she'd literally
she'd been taught told this lie by her own father that the uh her mother, you know, had died n from natural causes.
It's kind of odd.
I've never really, and there's many things that we cannot understand about Stalin.
I think this is one of them.
Because, in one sense, on one hand, he really genuinely seemed horrified and grief stricken by what had taken place.
And perhaps uh saw that he had played a role in this, you know, his appalling behavior.
At the same time, he starts to blame Nadia for being the cause of all his woes.
I mean, he says she made a cripple out of it.
of me.
Um now is this grief speaking?
Was he genuinely grief stricken?
Or um was he now going to blame Nadia for everything that happened?
It's very, very hard to know.
And and we see this in moments of great crisis in Stalin's life.
