Yes and no.
It's an annual competition.
This was the third time I'd been shortlisted.
But it was much more daunting this year because the poetry world has finally learned how to do publicity.
It's crazy.
I really like the festival hall.
and and it felt it feels very ordinary because it you know it it was 1951 i think wasn't it that it opened and so um just we're about the same age and you've grown with it yes and i just um i i don't know it doesn't feel like a threatening situation i don't get freaked out by readings particularly timing is hard with poetry readings but as long as you get that all right then
The quality of the attention.
You can feel it in every pore of your skin.
I listen to the audience in every pore of my skin.
That's how it feels.
And then if they're meeting that, that's working all right.
Yes, I was pleased.
And it was also live screened.
So a lot of people that I know will up here and see every day.
I got lots of feedback from my family.
My sisters were both online.
But there's also, I always feel like the poem's like a bowl.
And it, when it's finished, contains what you're saying desperately about yourself and the most intimate things in your life.
Somehow it's protected because it's within the poem.
