I mean it's fascinating because, you know, I think most people have never heard of the Yakimstallah and the idea that the word tala or dollar was floating around Europe back in the sixteenth century is a real revelation. matched

But um so this starts to emerge and then of course we have matched

And that's where basically the Yokamstala, um if I pronounce that right, starts to have a life of its own that outlives its creator and goes into areas that no one could have ever imagined and carries on for centuries. matched

So just before the break, we heard about the man called Stefan Schlick, the hapless 16th century nobleman from Bohemia, who almost no one's ever heard of if you're studying finance and money, but actually matters enormously. matched

Because he went around plundering the silver in the valley that he had stumbled on, created mines. matched

He then tries to build up the mining business, but he's really badly. matched

At it and the miners keep striking, and he ends up either dead or disappeared, never to return in one of those many European wars that again litter the history books. matched

But here's a really interesting thing: because although Stefan Schlick vanishes from history at this point. matched

In fact, his creation, the Jochenstala, isn't anything but dead, far from it. matched

It's about to have a whole new life that goes on for many centuries until today. matched
