And at the same time, I know that

What happens in this midterm election will affect every single American.

And that's because of our size.

So I don't know if you have heard this, but about three years ago, I first learned from a national kind of political player, a donor who came to talk to a few of us and said,

Texas is going to gain four to five more congressional seats by the end of the decade.

That's the Brennan Center, right?

Yep.

And then that's just because we're growing faster than everybody.

And so that if Texas doesn't flip before the end of the decade, there cannot be democratic control of Congress.

Math doesn't work.

Right.

And because congressional seats equate to electoral votes, there cannot be democratic control of the White House.

And the end did.

And this was like after like my fourth special session fighting this voucher.

And I was like leery eyed and was like, what is this meeting I'm going into?

And he said, and so the way we see it, the fate of the union depends on taxes.

And I was like, you got to be kidding me.

But that is a motivator for me.

We have an opportunity in Texas, yes, to save ourselves and to deliver real results for Texans.

But we also have an opportunity in this race now.
