So therein lies a great lesson.
I think back to when I say sometimes when I think back of all my career lessons, again, I think about these kinds of podcasts and people listening.
Probably one of my earliest lessons I learned about a career was,
which I felt a great loyalty to GM.
As I mentioned, it was no strings attached.
I did not have to go work for General Motors, but I really did feel a sense of loyalty.
What they had done for me was was really I could never pay them back enough.
To this day, Mary Barr is a good friend of mine.
And I always I am very thankful.
But what I worked on was trucks and buses.
And I can remember going into work at 7 a.m.
and working on trucks and buses and getting called at night and thinking, God, I don't love trucks and buses, okay?
And I was already married at the time.
And my husband would say, you know, but why don't you do something you love?
And, you know, you've got this engineering degree in computer science.
You love that.
And he said, you know, I have a friend whose father works for IBM.
Why don't I call him?
And why don't you just go see?
And maybe they'll talk to you.
